Tails Around Town

Need a walking buddy, hiking partner, or couch companion for the day? Our Tails Around Town program allows community members to take a shelter dog out for a few hours or even overnight, giving dogs a much-needed break from the shelter while helping us learn more about their personalities.

How It Works

2

Visit During Open Hours

Once approved, you may stop by anytime during regular shelter hours to pick up a dog for an outing.

3

Meet Your Adventure Buddy

Our kennel staff will help you select a dog that matches your experience level and plans for the day. Whether you're looking for a walking partner, a beach buddy, or a couch companion, we'll help you find the perfect fit.

4

Enjoy Your Time Together

Take your pup on an adventure! Popular outings include going for a walk or hike, visiting the beach or park, enjoying a pup cup, relaxing at home, or running errands together.

5

Bring Your Pup Back

Return your dog at the agreed upon time and share photos and notes from your outing. Your observations help us better understand each dog's personality and can even help them find a forever home.
